CS7.2 · Open-source · 3D-printed

Sort your brass
by headstamp.
Automatically.

The AI Case Sorter photographs every case, reads the headstamp with a trained AI model, and drops it into the right bin. You build it yourself from printed parts and an easy electronics kit.

The AI Case Sorter CS7.2 CS7.2 in action

How it works

From a pile of mixed brass
to neatly sorted bins.

  1. 01

    Feed

Cases drop through the feed tube into a stepper-driven feed wheel that indexes them one at a time.

  2. 02

    Capture

A camera under an LED light ring takes an evenly lit photo of the case head.

  3. 03

    Classify

The AI Headstamp Sorter app on your PC reads the headstamp with a model you can train on your own brass.

  4. 04

    Sort

A homed stepper swings the drop tube to the matching bin and releases the case. Then the next one comes through.

What’s inside

CS7.2 is built from five assemblies. A dedicated electronics board replaces the hand wiring and soldering that CS7.1 needed.

Get started

Four steps to your own sorter.

Everything is documented in the GitHub repo. Work through these in order.

  1. 1

    Choose your parts option

Pick the Complete kit if you’re starting from scratch and building a single machine. It’s usually the cheapest way to go. Pick Essentials if you’d rather source the common hardware yourself from the parts list.

  2. 2

    Print the parts

Each “EZ Build” zip contains only the models your kit needs, so you print everything in it. The printing guide lists recommended filaments and settings.

Upgrading from CS7.1? You can reuse the light shade, feed tubes, feed bracket, feed wheels, drop tube, drive gear, sorting bins and more. See the instructions for the full list.

  3. 3

    Assemble the sorter

Follow the PDF guide for each assembly, and watch the matching build video alongside it.

  4. 4

Install the software & read the manual

Register a free account on ReloadingRecipes.com to download the AI Headstamp Sorter app. The latest application guide and firmware are in the GitHub repo.
